Mama's Brownies

These here...are what we grew up with. They are not your traditional 'brownie & ice cream' dessert. They have the perfect frosting that sets and are rich and moist and MMmmm... oh so good.




Preheat oven to 350
In a mixing bowl, add:
1/3 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, melted (completely)
4 eggs
2 tsps vanilla
2 cups flour

Mix all together until smooth. Pour into greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 22-25 minutes. (Baking times vary, depending on oven. A knife or toothpick should come out clean in the center, but be careful not to overbake or they will be too dry.) Make icing while brownies are baking.



ICING
3 TBS cocoa
6 TBS butter, melted
2 cups powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

Beat until smooth and ice brownies while they are HOT. Let cool and cut into squares.

CREAM CHEESE VARIATION (Cream Cheese Marble Brownies)
8oz cream cheese
3 TBS sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 TBS flour
1 egg

Mix all ingredients together. Drop dollops of cream cheese mixture into the pan with the batter. Swirl dollups around, but be careful not to swirl too much, you want to be able to taste the cream cheese yum! :) ENJOY

**Freezer Tip: I love to double this recipe and bake in a jelly roll pan. After they have cooled completely, freeze brownie squares between parchment paper. Microwave them for 30 seconds or less and eat slowly! Mmmmmmmm
