malt breadsticks

delicious & fun, much like those light, fluffy & moist breadsticks you'll find at restaurants...Great with whole wheat or white!
1 TBS yeast
1 TBS honey
1 ½ cups warm water
1 TBS malted milk powder
1 tsp salt
3-3 ½ cups flour
Soften yeast in water and honey. Let stand until foamy. Add remaining ingredients. Knead to make a soft dough. Shape however you like. Brush with melted butter and any seasoning that you like. We like to use a variety of things such as: parmesan, seasoning salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, Italian seasoning etc.
Let rise for 20-30 minutes. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes. It will be lightly brown on the bottom. Makes a yummy chewy texture!
****VARIATIONS:
I love to make this dough into small oval shaped rolls, stuff them with cheese or roll in basil, dried onion and parmesan. This recipe also works well with 100% whole wheat flour. If you are putting cheese in them, you don’t need to add butter to the exterior, you can just brush with water and that will help the other things to stick.
